The sixth installment of the Harry Potter series begins right where The Order of the Phoenix left off. The wizarding world is rocked by the news that "He Who Must Not Be Named" has truly returned, and the audience finally knows that Harry is "the Chosen One"--the only wizard who can defeat Lord Voldemort in the end. Dark forces loom around every corner, and now regularly attempt to penetrate the protected walls of Hogwarts School. This is no longer the fun and fascinating world of magic from the first few books—it's dark, dangerous, and scary. Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) suspects Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) to be a new Death Eater recruit on a special mission for the Dark Lord. In the meantime, Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) seems to have finally removed the shroud of secrecy from Harry about the dark path that lies ahead, and instead provides private lessons to get him prepared. It's in these intriguing scenes that the dark past of Tom Riddle (a.k.a. Voldemort) is finally revealed. The actors cast as the different young versions of Riddle (Hero Fiennes-Tiffin and Frank Dillane) do an eerily fantastic job of portraying the villain as a child. While the previo...
Can't wait for the final two films!, 2010-08-29 As a Harry Potter fan, who has read all the books and loved them all. I knew that this film had to be darker in tone and content. It has to be to set up the scenes for the final two films to come. I found the film very visually dark, not great for me, i don't have brilliant sight! But i throughly enjoyed the film, you always knew certain characters were bad , and this certainly confirmed the cast into good and bad. I now await the two parts of "The deathly Hallows" with keen interest!

fantastic adaption, 2010-09-01 Ive just finished watching this film and think that it is one of the best adaptions i have ever seen, even if you have never read Steig Larssons brilliant trilogy i believe that you will thoroughly enjoy the film. The cinematography is fantastic and completely captures the mood of the books. The acting and casting is brilliant, lisbeth is exactly how i imagined her to be. I am now looking forward to seeing The girl who played with fire and would say to everyone go to see this film in swedish do not wait for a sanitised hollywood version!!!!!

If you’ve got too many pre-conceptions of just how a Sherlock Holmes movie should pan out, then it’s probably best that you check them in before popping this latest version in your player. Starring Robert Downey Jr. in the title role and accompanied by Jude Law as Watson, this film dispenses with some of the conventions of Holmes, and instead starts turning him into something of a period action hero. Downey Jr. is more than up to the challenge too. Early scenes in Sherlock Holmes are more Fight Club than sleuth-influenced, with the hand of director Guy Ritchie behind the camera being very clear. But the film soon settles down and starts to have some fun, with the able assistance of Mark Strong and Rachel McAdams, among the supporting cast. Yet this is Downey Jr.’s show, and he doesn’t waste the opportunity. He’s an engaging leading man at the worst of times, and he’s clearly having a ball here. What’s more, it’s immensely satisfying when his Sherlock Holmes gets down to the business of solving crimes, even though there are some really quite impressive action sequences to work through first. There are problems, of course. There...

Remember Me...... you should definately watch it!, 2010-09-01 If you like movies that have a completely unexpected end, then you should definately watch this movie. But i will warn you, if you cant cope with sad movies then DONT WATCH IT!
A lot of men will toss this film off as another 'Chick flick' film. It is definately NOT your usual chick flick film, it is a rollercoaster of love, hate, pain, and understanding. If you are under 12 but have permission to watch it, i suggest you dont. It is a complete puzzle and very sad.
I was 12 when i watched and begged my parents to buy it for me. I began to watch it-totally oblivious to how sad it would actually be- and after 2 hours of the rollercaoster of a film it ended- and i cried for ages and slammed a door when my little sister's friend said 'she was only crying at a film!?'(my sister told her why i was crying).
The film is very good and i do recommend it (if you still want to watch it after you hyave read this review).I shall certainly watch it again (armed with tissues)!
It puts a lot of things in perspective, you will see what i mean if you watch it!!

The Blind Side takes the true story of a young man who went from abandonment to success as a pro-football player and treats it with respect. The movie doesn't oversell what is, on the face of it, already compelling. It's almost impossible to describe the plot without sounding painfully inspirational: Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron, Be Kind Rewind), a hulking but gentle African-American teen in Tennessee, gets taken in by a well-to-do white family; the mother, Leigh Anne Touhy (Sandra Bullock), pushes and mothers the boy, who eventually wins a football scholarship to the University of Mississippi. In the wrong hands, this could have been maudlin, manipulative, and condescending. To the credit of writer-director John Lee Hancock, adapting Michael Lewis's acclaimed book, the result is intelligent, genuine, and alternately funny and moving. Leigh Anne could easily have been grandstanding and virtuous, but Bullock doesn't shy away from her vain and domineering side. The football scenes will be gripping even to non-sports fans because they've been so successfully grounded in Michael's emotional life. The all-around solid cast includes country music star Tim McGraw, pint-sized ...
Excellent Feelgood Movie, 2010-08-23 It is not very often that a movie like this comes along - but when it does it is truely inspiring. Sandra Bullock is amazing and the whole film will leave you feeling very warm - top marks......

Better than the book..., 2010-08-18 I have to say I love this film! I was struggling mid-way through the new moon book and decided to watch the film to provide the motivation during the 'Edward free' period and it really worked. The film seems to be better proportioned than the novel and is much more gritty than the first film, also thankfully they have got rid of Edward's dodgy eyebrows from the first film (what were they thinking!?). All in all a great film, especially the end, I won't give it away but I did scream with excitement! Enjoy.

The big-screen adaptation of Twilight, Stephenie Meyer's bestselling vampire romance, is aimed squarely at its key demographic: teen girls whose idea of Prince Charming is a brooding, pale, undead teen who could kill you instantly at any moment. Such a prince is more fascinating than frightening to new girl Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), who moves to the rainy-gray town of Forks, Wash., to live with her dad (Billy Burke), the local sheriff who's puzzled by a series of "animal attacks." On her first day at school, Bella appears to (visibly) nauseate her lab partner, Edward (Robert Pattinson). Turns out the scent of her blood is this vampire's "brand of heroin," and his struggle not to kill her causes an irresistible pull toward her. Whether he's attracted for the normal reasons or because she smells especially sweet to him is vague in the book and even less clear on-screen; nonetheless, Bella falls hopelessly in love with Edward, which sets her on a dangerous path when a few nomad vampires show up in town, one particularly keen on tracking the human. Directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen), Twilight is full of funny moments--not all of which are intentional--and the casti...

CENTURION, AN ENJOYABLE MANS' FILM, 2010-09-02 Ignore all those that see themselves as budding critics, if you like a good yarn with plenty of excellently choreographed battle scenes, and 'Hammer' style effects, then this is for you! Minimal 'lovey dovey' as well. I thoroughlly enjoyed it!
