Series 1 and 2 are absolutely brilliant reflections of policing and attitudes at the time. I should know. I was one. Hyped up a bit for the camera but great fun and entertainment and a good laugh to boot.

I've absolutely loved this series. Gene Hunt has to be one of the finest characters created for tv. The period details are great. Best of all are the hilarious car chases in Hunt's Cortina, and, of course the fight scenes!

If you haven't seen it before - highly recommended

Staring: Justin Kerrigan; Jan Anderson, John Simm, Andrew Lincoln, Lorraine Pilkington, Shaun Parkes
Director: Justin Kerrigan

Five best friends, 48 hours and a bucketload of ecstasy pills make for an enjoyably lightweight slice of pop-cultural ephemera from debut director Justin Kerrigan. Cardiff is the city, and hardcore partying, clubbing and pubbing is on the menu as Jip (John Simm) and his renegade band of McJobbers clock off and head out for a weekend of debauchery. Among Jip's hedonistic posse are the cheeky cockney drug-dealer Moff (Danny Dyer), the terminally jealous boyfriend Koop (Shaun Parkes) and the bad-boy magnet Lulu (Lorraine Pilkington).

And that's pretty much it. Our heroes meet in a pub, get drunk, take drugs, go to a club, then to a party, then home and then meet up in another pub, just in time for the closing credits. Along the way there's a shamefully lethargic attempt to establish character back-story: Jip is temporarily sexually impotent because his mother's a prostitute; Koop's father is institutionalised; Lulu has nasty boyfriends; and Moff has conservative parents. But generally Human Traffic is happier at the heart of the party, celebrating the intoxication of club culture--which it does in style. Kerrigan pulls out all the formal stops with an energetic melange of j...
Average rating of 5/5 Superb Film!!, 2009-06-29
This is one of the best British films of the youth generation and the only one of the 1990s as far as I'm concerned. The music in the film is one of the best for a movie of any genre and is still one of my CD choices 10 years on from its release.

This is fantastically funny in places and a great trip through the weekender's club life. On a further note this has an excellent performance from Danny Dyer marking him as probably the Phil Daniels for his generation.

Average rating of 5/5 Love LOM and A2A!!, 2010-02-23
Absolutly fantastic series will be at a loss once series three has been shown on bbc! Im not sure why people keep saying the shows are un PC,it was the 70's and 80's - Political Correctness wasnt as out of control and(tbh)as ridiculas as it is now!! who cares anyway, Hunt practicly insults the entire world in his rants but does it in such a way you can only smile! It's a nice glimpse into the past as well as a mind bender too.

Hope you have time to watch and enjoy this gem of television viewing!

This is possibly one of my best TV shows, the comedy value, when you watch this in stunning almost arousing sharpness and quality then it feels better than watching the 480p downloads that people put up 4 years ago when this was aired, this has 2 dual layer blu-rays inside all put in 5.1 on some episodes its pointless on others its affective Eg the first episode when he thinks hes going insain in the medical room, good buy Love it cheep and stunning.

Staring: Molly Ringwald, Harry Dean Stanton, Jon Cryer, Annie Potts, James Spader
Director: Howard Deutch

The era of Molly Ringwald's profitable collaboration with writer-producer-director John Hughes (Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club) was at its peak with this 1986 film (directed by Howard Deutch but in every sense part of the developing Hughes empire). Ringwald plays a high-school girl on the budget side of the tracks, living with her warm and loving father (Harry Dean Stanton) and usually accompanied by her insecure best friend (Jon Cryer). When a wealthy but well-meaning boy (Andrew McCarthy) asks her out, her perspective is overturned and Cryer's character is threatened. As was the case in the mid-'80s, Hughes (who wrote the script and produced the film) brought his special feel for the cross-currents of adolescent life to this story. In its very commercial way, it is an honest, entertaining piece about growing pains. The attractive supporting cast (many of whom are much better known now) does a terrific job, and Ringwald and Cryer have excellent chemistry. --Tom Keogh
Average rating of 5/5 LOVE IT ! ! ! !, 2009-05-12
Who could not love this movie?
Its a classic retro movie with every cast member playing an excellent role.
Plot: Molly's character comes from a working class single parented family, and is attending the "fancy" school in the area, one of the posh boys asks her out. The two of them didnt realise how many difficulties they would need to face from other people.
My favourite character has to be Duckie when he sings "Try a Little Tenderness" it melted my heart and made me all girly.

This is definatley a chick flick but a worth while one at that.

Although i do have one critisim to make of the movie; What is with the dress at the end, there's this big build up to her (molly) making it and then it ends up looking like a potatoe sack!

Average rating of 5/5 Ashes to Ashes - an awesome 80's action packed show!, 2010-03-03
I watched Ashes to Ashes as it aired on the BBC. I thought it was so good I not only bought this set for myself but other people I thought would like it but hadn't seen it.
Everyone who received this box set loved it to. The characters are believable, funny and you know your hooked when you are dissapointed with their behaviour. I have to remind myself it's a TV show!!The music is ace - a real 80's mix. And the fashion! You'll love it!!
Please watch Life on Mars first before you watch this. Gene Hunt (The main character from both series) gets better and better. Life on Mars : Complete BBC Series 1 & 2 (8 Disc Box Set) [2006] [DVD]

Finally I updated my old video copy for dvd and it gave me the perfect excuse to watch it again.
It is just brilliant, the characters are addictive and you'll end up repeating vast chunks of it with your mates.
Yes I supposed it's classed as an old film now but it stands the test of time well and would appeal to anyone who has had experienced the joy of going out at the weekend and making the most of it!
No point telling you all about the story - it will spoil it just go and get it and enjoy!
