Loving it!, 2010-08-26 I watched all the Ashes to Ashes episodes and I must admit I did have a dilema about buying this box set. I wanted to watch the early programmes but I was aprehensive as I now knew the truth about the world of Gene Hunt -Would that spoil my enjoyment? Would I keep looking out for the clues?
I have to say that knowing the ending has made no difference to my enjoyment of these episodes. The music, the clothes - they all take me back to my childhood. I found it really enjoyable and would recommend it's purchase.

Great Blu Ray disc, ignore the moaners, 2010-06-24 I class myself as a fan of Blu Ray, I can tell between a good and bad HD transfer and am often annoyed with releases that promise much and deliver less than I expect.
I swithered for a while about buying this disc as so many were not happy, too much grain, bad copy etc. I am pleased to say that none of this applies on the disc I had. Maybe it has been addressed at distributor level and this is a better transfer, or the most likely that anyone expecting perfect is setting themselves up for disapointment. I would say for me, the picture is as good if not better than TV broadcasts and I would reccommend to anyone who doesn't already have the DVD. It's a 1970s show, the picture reflects what the producers want to show, just enjoy it.

Simply LUSH!, 2009-04-21 Finally I updated my old video copy for dvd and it gave me the perfect excuse to watch it again.
It is just brilliant, the characters are addictive and you'll end up repeating vast chunks of it with your mates.
Yes I supposed it's classed as an old film now but it stands the test of time well and would appeal to anyone who has had experienced the joy of going out at the weekend and making the most of it!
No point telling you all about the story - it will spoil it just go and get it and enjoy!

Absolutely brilliant, 2010-09-02 I should start out with a warning! Don't start watching this late at night if you have to get up early the next morning!!! I started watching this at 10pm while having to get up early next day and I still ended up watching the first 4 episodes because I just couldn't stop.
I bought this because when I was thinking about buying the US movie version a lot of the reviews mentioned that this is far superior. Having watched all 340 minutes of this I can't help be thankful that I bought this and not the movie as I have no idea how they could possibly do the storyline/plot justice in just 2 hours. Every time I thought I had it figured out and started wondering how in the world they were going to spend several more episodes on that, something else would be revealed and the chase was back on, so to speak.
I can't recommend this series enough!!!

There were a few moments in the third season of the revived Doctor Who when you begin to wonder if the bubble has burst. A couple of tepid Dalek episodes, and a handful of forgettable stories, make you begin--perhaps for the first time since the show’s revival--whether it’s already hits its peak. But never underestimate the new Doctor Who. For the back run of series three is as good as anything that’s gone before it, with ingenious plotting, the clever layering of elements it casually--nah, crucially--refers to later on, and some quite superb individual episodes. It not only restores any hint of lost faith, it sets the bar even higher. Examples? The stunning single story Blink is extremely clever, genuinely scary and has immense rewatch value. While the equally strong double-header of Human Nature and The Family Of Blood is a two-parter in the traditional Doctor Who way, building up its story in a measured and really effectively creepy way. Then there’s the finale. Presenting the Doctor with one of his finest, most ingenious villains makes for quite brilliant television (albeit with a slightly underwhelming concluding episode),...
doctor who reduex, 2010-05-21 The brilliance of the reinvented Doctor Who is down to great production values, a wonderful producing team, an all time great Doctor Who in the form of David Tennant, the brilliance of Russell T Davis's writing and exec producing, up to date special effects, assistants you care for, Rose, Marth, Donna and fantastic stories. Can't get better than that can you? Best show on televison? Absolutely!

Magic Geneie, 2010-06-19 Watched the complete series on TV up to and including the finale of Ashes to Ashes.........fabulous. Re-watching from the start and it's even better than I remembered. Knowing 'the truth' hasn't spoilt it at all. If like me you can't get enough of the Gene Genie this set is a must.

Required Viewing for History Buffs, 2009-11-23 It is a tragedy that The Devil's Whore was never made as it was originally intended, in its full extended version. As it is, it is a flawed masterpiece.
The irritating signs of violent editing, to squeeze the story into four paltry episodes (events jump by as much a 3-4 years at a time) is more than made up for by the vivid characterisation of one woman's rite of passage to emancipation and graphic portrayal on the only full-blown revolution the UK has ever experienced.
Gratifyingly absent is the saccarine overlay of Cavalier romanticism of previous TV series like By The Sword Divided.
The characters portrayed on the Parliamentary side - Cromwell, Rainsborough, 'Free-born' John Lilburne - are terrifying and admirable at the same time, advocating ideas centuries ahead of their time (universal sufferage, equal rights for women) and attempting to yank the conservative population of England into the modern age, whether it wanted to or not. Who'd have ever thought a popular TV series would make popular characters of The Levellers and The Diggers?
This is absolutely required viewing for anyone who wants the real story of the English Civil War, free of the naive simplicities of 1066 and all that!!
